A Zone of My Own

The centerpiece of our Child Safety Initiative program is “A Zone of My Own”, the first of a series of Zone Books that provide parents and teachers a powerful new prevention tool to teach children how to stay safe – introducing a new concept in which everyone and everything has a “zone” protecting them. They learn to respect these zones by not crossing them – and that others must not cross their zone. They learn the clues to watch out for, what to do if they feel uncomfortable in a situation, and why it is important to tell their parents or a trusted adult if their zone is ever crossed.

Meet The Author

We know that children don't learn out of fear, so we've created a non-threatening approach to child safety with a fun, easy-to-understand book filled with rhyming text and colorful illustrations.

Working directly with Child Psychologists, it was determined that the appropriate age for this book is two to 12 year olds. With a parent or teacher reading the book, the illustrations convey the “Zone” message clearly to the young child, while the message and rhyming text is interesting and not too juvenile for the older reader.

Although this book is intended to arm kids with the knowledge they need to help avoid inappropriate circumstances, it also contains very valuable safety tips on dealing with situations that children face on a daily basis – like electricity zones, animal and creature zones, hot zones, street zones, and many, many more.
